Activating your license

Two ways a Nolvra plugin unlocks — a license key, or an active All-Access membership — and what happens when you are offline.

Two doors, either one opens it

A paid Nolvra plugin unlocks in one of two ways: a valid license key for that product, or an active All-Access membership on the account you are signed into in the Hub. The two are independent. A key owner does not need the Hub installed, and an All-Access member never types a key.

Activating with a license key

Find your key

It is emailed to you right after purchase, tied to the address you bought with. It also lives in the Nolvra Hub on the Licenses screen — sign in with that same email and every product you own is there.

Open the plugin

An unlicensed plugin opens onto an activation screen rather than its interface.

Paste the key

Keys are formatted per product — a SURGE key reads SURGE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, a PLUNGE key PLUNGE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Paste it and hit ACTIVATE.

That is it

The activation is recorded against your license, and the plugin opens straight into its interface from then on.

Activating with All-Access

If you have an active All-Access membership, sign in to the Nolvra Hub with the email on the membership. Products covered by All-Access then open without a key on that machine — the plugin recognises the Hub's signed-in session.

You never need to enter a key for an All-Access product, and there is no separate step beyond signing in.

How many machines

A license activates on up to two machines that you personally own and use. Those two can be any mix of Mac and Windows — one license covers both platforms.

When both slots are full, activating a third machine is refused with a clear message rather than silently failing. Free a slot first: see the article on moving a license to a new machine.

Working offline

Activation needs a connection once. After that the plugin keeps a signed local record and keeps working offline for up to fourteen days before it needs to check in again. Reconnect at any point in that window and the clock resets.

The rule underneath is deliberately strict: the plugin opens when the server says yes right now, or when it holds a previously verified local record that is still intact and still inside its window. Anything else — a corrupt record, an unreadable answer, a clock that has been moved backwards — closes the door rather than guessing. Offline use is fully supported; unverified use is not.

Trying it before you buy

There is a third door, and it is temporary: a 7-day free trial of All-Access that does not ask for a card. You start it yourself in the Hub, on the ALL-ACCESS row under ACCOUNT in settings, while your account is still eligible for it. While it runs, covered products open on the signed-in machine exactly as a membership opens them — no key, no separate activation step.

The trial is once per account and once per machine, and it does not renew. When it ends the covered products lock, and the way on is a membership or an outright purchase. See the All-Access article for the detail.

Windows

All of the above applies on Windows. The Hub runs there, the license is the same license, the two-machine limit is the same limit, and the offline window is the same fourteen days. The one real difference is the plugin format: Windows has VST3 and no AU, because Audio Units are an Apple format.
