Support / Installation & activation

Installing and running Nolvra GLOAM

Install GLOAM on Mac or Windows from Nolvra Hub or the GLOAM page, find it in your DAW, and remove it again. Free, with nothing to activate.

What you need

Nolvra GLOAM is a free resonance suppressor. It runs as VST3 and Audio Unit on macOS 11 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac, and as a 64-bit VST3 on Windows 10 or later. There is no account, no license key and no activation: once it is installed, it works.

Installing on a Mac

Install from the Hub, or from the GLOAM page

If you use Nolvra Hub, GLOAM is in its list marked FREE: press INSTALL and the Hub runs the installer. Nolvra Hub itself needs macOS 14 or later. On an older Mac, download the installer from the GLOAM page on nolvra.com and open it. The package puts the VST3 and the Audio Unit into your own user folders, so it does not ask for an administrator password.

Rescan in your DAW

Your DAW caches its plugin list. Rescan plug-ins in your DAW to pick GLOAM up, or restart the host.

Where the Mac installer puts GLOAM

  • VST3~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Nolvra GLOAM.vst3
  • Audio Unit~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Nolvra GLOAM.component
  • License texts~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/GLOAM/Licenses

Installing on Windows

Install from the Hub, or from the GLOAM page

Press INSTALL on GLOAM in Nolvra Hub, or download the setup for Windows from the GLOAM page and run it. Windows asks for administrator rights once, because the VST3 goes into the shared VST3 folder.

Rescan in your DAW

Nolvra GLOAM is installed. If your host is open, close it and rescan plug-ins.

Where the Windows setup puts GLOAM

  • VST3C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Nolvra GLOAM.vst3
  • License textsC:\Program Files\Nolvra\GLOAM

Nothing to activate

GLOAM is free and has no license check. Its account card reads FREE · NO ACTIVATION NEEDED, and it never asks for a key or a sign-in. It is not part of All-Access or the Collection, because it does not need to be, and it keeps working with no time limit.

GLOAM does not appear in my DAW

Rescan your plugins

Symptom: the installer finished and GLOAM is nowhere in the browser. Cause: your DAW cached its plugin list before the install. Fix: rescan in your host's plugin manager, or restart the host.

Check your system version

Symptom: GLOAM is missing on an older Mac or PC. Cause: GLOAM needs macOS 11 or later, or Windows 10 or later. Fix: update the system.

Check which format your host wants

Symptom: the host lists other plug-ins but not GLOAM. Cause: Logic and GarageBand load only Audio Units; on Windows only VST3 is installed. Fix: look for the format your host loads.

Check the folder your host scans

Symptom: the host scans a custom folder. Cause: on a Mac GLOAM installs into your user Library, not the system one. Fix: add ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 to the host's scan list, or on Windows C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.

Audio Unit validation in Logic

Logic validates every Audio Unit before it shows it. If GLOAM is marked as failed, open Logic's Plug-in Manager, select Nolvra GLOAM and choose Reset & Rescan Selection. To check it yourself in Terminal: auval -v aufx Nglm Nlvr

Presets and settings

GLOAM's factory presets are built into the plug-in. Your own presets are .gloampreset files in one folder, next to GLOAM's log file.

On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/GLOAM

On Windows: %APPDATA%\Nolvra\GLOAM

Copy that folder to take your own presets to another computer.

Removing GLOAM

From the Hub

Press UNINSTALL on GLOAM in Nolvra Hub.

On a Mac

Quit your DAW and delete Nolvra GLOAM.vst3 from ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 and Nolvra GLOAM.component from ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/GLOAM as well only if you also want your own presets gone.

On Windows

Open Settings, Apps, find Nolvra GLOAM and choose Uninstall. The uninstaller removes the VST3 and the program folder. It leaves your own presets in %APPDATA%\Nolvra\GLOAM; delete that folder too if you want nothing left.

What not to delete

The files directly inside ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra or %APPDATA%\Nolvra belong to Nolvra Hub and your other Nolvra plug-ins.

What to send us

If none of this works, write to support@nolvra.com with your operating system and its version, your host and its version, and a screenshot of the plugin manager entry.
