Support / Installation & activation
Installing and running Nolvra BRIM
Install BRIM on Mac or Windows, activate it, find it in your DAW, and remove it again.
What you need
Nolvra BRIM is a clipper for mix and master buses. It runs as VST3 and Audio Unit on macOS 11 or later, natively on Apple Silicon Macs, and as a 64-bit VST3 on Windows. Signing in to Nolvra Hub, or a license key, is required to use the plug-in.
Installing on a Mac
Install from the Hub
Sign in to Nolvra Hub and install BRIM from the product list; the Hub installs it and keeps it updated. The package puts the VST3 and the Audio Unit into your own user folders, so it does not ask for an administrator password.
Rescan in your DAW
Your DAW caches its plugin list. Rescan plug-ins in your DAW to pick BRIM up, or restart the host.
Where the Mac installer puts BRIM
- VST3~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Nolvra BRIM.vst3
- Audio Unit~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Nolvra BRIM.component
- License texts~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/BRIM/Licenses
Installing on Windows
Install from the Hub
Sign in to Nolvra Hub and install BRIM from the product list, the same way as on a Mac. Windows asks for administrator rights once, because the VST3 goes into the shared VST3 folder.
Rescan in your DAW
Nolvra BRIM is installed. If your host is open, close it and rescan plug-ins.
Where the Windows setup puts BRIM
- VST3C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Nolvra BRIM.vst3
- License textsC:\Program Files\Nolvra\BRIM
Trial and license
When BRIM opens without a license it shows the activation panel. All-Access members need no key: open Nolvra Hub and sign in. If you bought BRIM on its own, enter your license key; you can find it in Nolvra Hub under Licenses. The key looks like BRIM-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. The badge in the plug-in shows where you stand: LICENSED, ALL-ACCESS, TRIAL with the days left, or TRIAL ENDED. When the trial is over, BRIM says "Your BRIM trial has ended." Trial length: 7 days. Open Nolvra Hub once while you are online to renew your sign-in.

BRIM does not appear in my DAW
Rescan your plugins
Symptom: the installer finished and BRIM is nowhere in the browser. Cause: your DAW cached its plugin list before the install. Fix: rescan in your host's plugin manager, or restart the host.
Check your system version
Symptom: BRIM is missing on an older Mac. Cause: BRIM needs macOS 11 or later. Fix: update macOS.
Check which format your host wants
Symptom: the host lists other plug-ins but not BRIM. Cause: Logic and GarageBand load only Audio Units; on Windows only VST3 is installed. Fix: look for the format your host loads.
Check the folder your host scans
Symptom: the host scans a custom folder. Cause: on a Mac BRIM installs into your user Library, not the system one. Fix: add ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 to the host's scan list, or on Windows C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.
Audio Unit validation in Logic
Logic validates every Audio Unit before it shows it. If BRIM is marked as failed, open Logic's Plug-in Manager, select Nolvra BRIM and choose Reset & Rescan Selection. To check it yourself in Terminal: auval -v aufx Nclp Nlvr
Presets and settings
BRIM's 61 factory presets in 9 folders are built into the plug-in, so there is no preset folder on disk and nothing to copy between machines. The last window size you chose, and the license record, are kept here:
On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/BRIM
On Windows: %APPDATA%\Nolvra\BRIM
Removing BRIM
On a Mac
There is no uninstaller. Quit your DAW and delete Nolvra BRIM.vst3 from ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3, Nolvra BRIM.component from ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, and the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra/BRIM.
On Windows
Open Settings, Apps, find Nolvra BRIM and choose Uninstall. The uninstaller removes the VST3 and the program folder. It leaves your settings in %APPDATA%\Nolvra\BRIM; delete that folder too if you want nothing left.
What not to delete
The files directly inside ~/Library/Application Support/Nolvra or %APPDATA%\Nolvra (session.json, session-v2.json, entitlements) belong to Nolvra Hub and your other Nolvra plug-ins.
What to send us
If none of this works, write to support@nolvra.com with your operating system and its version, your host and its version, and a screenshot of the plugin manager entry. Do not send your license key.
